Job Title: Evening ManagerJob Code: 124Department: GroceryReports To: Store ManagerPrimary Purpose:Responsible for retail store operations during the evening hours making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise quality and presentation and the level of service offered to our customers. Ensure conditions involving security, safety, and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest levels.Duties and Responsibilities:ï‚· Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire storeï‚· Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associatesï‚· Manage performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary effortsï‚· Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast and easy customer serviceï‚· Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Food Lion's Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategyï‚· Ensure proper control of all store funds and company assetsï‚· Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidentsï‚· Observe and ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies, standard practices, security, safety, and food safety standardsï‚· Understand and use company tools such as; financial reports, average cost inventory system (ACIS), scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systemsï‚· Support the achievement of store budgeted financial and operating resultsï‚· Maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper utilization of Standard Practices to ensure that inventory and moneys are accounted for; provides coaching for associates to recognize and prevent lossesï‚· Ensure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of all policies and proceduresï‚· Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulationsï‚· Ensure that staffing schedules across departments meet the business needsï‚· Constant interaction with associates; ensure associates understand Food Lion's expectations and have the tools and training to be successfulï‚· Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid coursesï‚· Perform all other duties and projects as assignedQualifications:ï‚· High school graduate or equivalentï‚· Department Manager or equivalent experience requiredï‚· Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniquesï‚· Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skillsï‚· Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the jobï‚· Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievancesï‚· Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departmentsï‚· Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functionsï‚· Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodationsï‚· Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditationPhysical Requirements:ï‚· Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functionsï‚· Ability to use hand held computers for orders, mark downs, scan outs, and inventoryï‚· Stand 100% of the time, frequently walking short distancesï‚· Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack or floatï‚· Perform repetitive hand and arm motionsï‚· Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and approximately 100 lbs. on occasionï‚· Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, and household cleanersï‚· Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level: occasionally above shoulder or below waist levelï‚· Meet established volume activity standards for the positionï‚· Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a timeï‚· Have sufficient visual ability to check invoices, dates, and other written documents
