POSITION OVERVIEWResponsible for the repair, maintenance, overhaul, and service of various types of small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and vehiclesESSENTIAL DUTIESCompletes intermediate to skilled tasks in maintaining and repairing small engine equipment and large equipmentPerforms welding services as neededAdjusts, overhauls, repairs, and reassembles engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axels, and other assembliesReads and interprets manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications to complete repair and maintenance tasksResponds to roadside service calls as needed and coordinates towing service as appropriateTests, diagnoses, and repairs large equipment to include diesel powered automobiles, tractors, dump trucks, excavators, heavy trucks, and other heavy construction equipmentCompletes all repairs to high standards of safety and qualitySchedules and conducts regular preventative maintenance inspection and repairs on any/all company equipmentObserves or monitors equipment to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standardsCompletes maintenance reports, work orders, and any other required paperworkMaintains a clean and safe work site including proper maintenance and care of all company equipmentPromotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesPosition may perform other duties as assignedEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGEHigh school diploma or GED required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be consideredMinimum 1 year of hands-on experience as a Mechanic; 3-5 years of general repair and maintenance experience strongly preferredBasic maintenance welding experience is a plusLandscaping knowledge is a bonusSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSProven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team settingStrong multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesProficient in efficiently disassembling and reassembling various types of equipmentSkilled in troubleshooting and adapting to resolve mechanical or operational issues quicklyWORKING CONDITIONSIndoor and outdoor conditionsExtended work hours during peak seasonsRequires substantial physical activity performing strenuous activities of a productive and technical nature; moderate exposure to outdoor weather conditions of extreme heat and extreme cold; consistent exposure to loud noise; potential exposure to air pollution, allergens, dust, pollen, insects, and other potentially harmful naturally occurring hazards; continuous exposure to moving mechanical parts and sharp objectsEMPLOYMENT STATUSFull Time
