Position InformationThe position serves a large academic teaching and research department, which includes the Analytical Chemistry Instrumentation Facility. Using independent judgment and initiative, provides key administrative analytical and technical support with emphasis on all academic personnel related activities, including but not limited to -academic recruitments (senate, non-senate and Professors of Teaching), retention packages, merit and promotion packages and records, special handling issues for International Services Center, leaves, policy interpretation and consultative assistance to the department chair and faculty at large. Manages summer session assignments and quarterly TA appointments. Makes recommendations when appropriate to fill voids in teaching assignments.Provide leadership for planning, development, management, and implementation of academic program reviews, academic planning, and non-senate academic appointments. Coordinate matters involving academic personnel including policy interpretation and provide consultative assistance to the faculty at large and the chair. Maintain employee advancement records . Determine methods and procedures at the department level to ensure confidentiality and the effective processing of all matters involving the academic program. Independent responsibility for interpreting the APM and The Call to provide analytical advice to management and the faculty, the ACIF, academic coordinators. and LPSOEs. Independently coordinate the faculty recruitment process.Overall coordination of facility assignments, key distribution and use of space through calendaring.General support to the Chair, Vice-Chair, ACIF and department programs/committees. The full salary range for the Academic HR Analyst 2 is $61,000 - $106,800 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $61,000 - $83,900 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. EducationEducation RequirementsBachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)Experience Requirements2 - 4 years of related experience. (Required)Minimum RequirementsDemonstrated ability to effectively and accurately research, compile and analyze policies and information and provide sound recommendations based on the results. Ability to translate observations, findings, and recommendations from analytical studies into a concise and logical written report. Demonstrated organization, problem solving and communication skills. Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems. Ability to prepare basic budgets for non-academic year programs. Basic knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs/unit management. Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated knowledge and experience in the academic recruitment process. Knowledge of UCRs financial system, policy and procedures and client/server systems. Proficient in the use of the UCR AP Recruit system. Experience in the areas of academic personnel, human resources or labor relations. Proficient in the use of the UCR campus eFile system. Working knowledge of the application of the UC Academic Personnel Manual, The Call, and the Memorandum of Understanding for Unit 18 personnel. Experience with payroll processing for academic personnel. Knowledge of and experience in processing academic merits and promotions.
