In this highly visible role, youll help drive both operational reliability and technical workforce excellence.Position SummaryThe Maintenance Planner and Trainer is a dual-capacity technical leader responsible for coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance strategies while also delivering training to build a highly skilled, safety-conscious maintenance team. Operating in a heavy industrial setting, this role directly influences equipment uptime, workforce readiness, and plant efficiency"”especially critical in an environment that supports aerospace-grade metal production.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Planning & SchedulingPlan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across large-scale manufacturing equipment and infrastructure (e.g., overhead cranes, furnaces, presses, conveyors).Work cross-functionally with operations teams to minimize downtime and align maintenance windows with production schedules.Ensure the accuracy and reliability of CMMS data, including work orders, equipment history, and parts inventory.Support procurement of essential spare parts and manage third-party contractor coordination for major maintenance tasks.Track and analyze maintenance performance metrics such as MTTR, MTBF, and schedule compliance to support continuous improvement.Training & DevelopmentAssess the training needs of maintenance technicians across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and welding disciplines.Design and deliver technical training sessions"”both hands-on and classroom-based"”focusing on diagnostics, systems knowledge, and safety.Lead onboarding programs for new maintenance staff, ensuring consistent knowledge transfer through structured training matrices.Maintain regulatory training records and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable standards.Reliability & Improvement InitiativesCollaborate with engineering, EHS, and operations teams to enhance equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures and implement action plans to prevent recurrence.Assist in updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), LOTO protocols, and equipment job plans to ensure safe and efficient execution.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required; an associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, industrial technology, or a related field is preferred.5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with 2+ years in maintenance planning, training, or supervisory roles"”preferably in a heavy manufacturing or metals processing environment.Strong familiarity with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Maximo, or eMaint.Technical ProficiencySolid expertise in industrial electrical systems, hydraulics/pneumatics, mechanical systems, and PLCs.Skilled in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs.Comfortable delivering technical training to skilled trades professionals in a manufacturing setting.Certifications (Preferred)Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)OSHA 30 or MSHA CertificationNFPA 70E or Electrical Safety TrainingForklift, crane, or rigging certifications
