Position InformationThe Director, Quality supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization through continuous quality improvement to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care. The director will work with physicians, providers, clinicians, operations, clinical informatics, and performance excellence to enhance performance on clinical quality metrics. Working under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, this role will support the development of a quality improvement strategy that aligns with UCR Health organizational goals. The director will develop detailed plans to identify and address quality gaps and to achieve quality improvement goals for each measure. The director will use data to drive quality improvement initiatives and to monitor trends. The director will implement a quality improvement platform including the Model for Improvement and LEAN methods. With partners, develops a culture of excellence in quality and accountability. The director will lead cross-functional teams on quality improvement with a focus on supporting workflow and process redesign, and engagement of providers and staff to implement evidence-based and best practice approaches, and to promote a culture of excellence in quality. This role also focuses on providing education, training, and support to providers and staff, including at-the-elbow real-time support. This role will support the development of quality champions and leaders within the organization. This role functions as a technical and tactical leader on quality improvement for the organization.The successful incumbent for this position must be licensed as a registered nurse or another equivalent clinical field in the State of California.The full salary range for the Director of Quality is $111,000 - $214,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $188,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.EducationEducation RequirementsBachelors degree in nursing or other healthcare profession, or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience. (Required)License RequirementsLicensed as a registered nurse or another equivalent clinical field in the State of California. (Required)Drivers License required to drive from UCR campus to clinic locations as needed (Required)Certification RequirementsCertified Professionals in Healthcare Quality *(CPHQ) certificate or obtained within 24 months of hire. (Required)Experience Requirements6 - 10 years of related experience. (Required)Prior experience working within an ambulatory quality program of a medical group or health system (Preferred)Prior experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple key partners across the organization and externally. (Preferred)Prior experience with data analytics for quality improvement (Preferred)Experience in designing, and using quality dashboards in electronic health record systems, and reporting dashboard tools such as Tableau, and PowerBI (Preferred)Six years of experience in a quality improvement role within a clinical, ambulatory setting (Preferred)Two years of supervisory or leadership experience in a quality program. (Preferred)Experience working with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic (Preferred)Minimum RequirementsAdvanced knowledge of various administrative and business software packages, and of the specialized applications for quality data management. In-depth knowledge of QI models, tools, and techniques, including collection, abstraction, validation, analysis, reporting of data, and use of performance and benchmark indicators. Advanced ability to effectively convey complex clinical, technical,and educational information both verbally and in writing, and to produce high quality reports, documentation, and presentations. In-depth knowledge of QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements. Advanced skills to influence and persuade staff, management, and clinicians at all levels and across departments. Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with all levels of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external regulatory agencies and for mentoring lower-level QI staff. Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills to manage multiple levels of highly-complex information and responsibilities, to quickly assess problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions. Proficient in Microsoft, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of ambulatory quality measures including NCQA/HEDIS, and MIPS measures Advanced interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of clinical and administrative staff internally and externally.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of health care policy, regulations, licensing and accreditation standards, and compliance related to quality. Assess compliance with regulations and standards.
