Senior Project Manager, Data Center Construction

Role: Senior Project Manager, Construction (Data Centers) OverviewA leading infrastructure development firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee mission-critical construction projects, with a primary focus on data center builds and complex MEP systems.This role will lead projects from early planning through final delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, on budget, and to exacting quality and technical standards. The position requires a hands-on leader with strong coordination, financial, and construction management skills.Key ResponsibilitiesLead full lifecycle project management from early planning to commissioning and turnover.Support pre-construction efforts, including planning, permitting, and utility coordination.Collaborate with procurement teams to develop RFPs and oversee vendor selection.Create and present capital expenditure proposals and budget updates to leadership.Negotiate and manage contracts with general contractors, commissioning agents, and subcontractors.Monitor and track project budgets and forecasts, providing consistent reportingLead coordination with project stakeholders during OAC, Low Voltage, and OFCI meetings.Supervise consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors through all project phases.Champion sustainability initiatives within the construction and design process.Maintain project documentation and manage workflows throughout design-build.Oversee technical, contractual, and procurement elements during execution.Conduct regular project status meetings and generate comprehensive updates.Ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across all workstreams.QualificationsRequired: Minimum 5 years of experience in mission-critical construction, particularly data centers and MEP-intensive projects.Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams.Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost control experience.Skilled in construction contract negotiation and vendor management.Strong verbal and written communication skills across technical and executive levels.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and construction tools like Procore.Willingness to travel approximately 25% to various project sites.Preferred:Experience with large-scale, multi-megawatt data center projects.Familiarity with general contracting, owner's rep, or engineering/development roles.Experience with commissioning processes and infrastructure turnover best practices.Proficiency in Primavera or similar scheduling software.Ability to oversee multiple high-volume projects across different regions.Education & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.
