Our client, a 105-year-old family-owned commercial General Contractor based in Norfolk, is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their Preconstruction team.ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects ranging from $20–50M+Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive takeoffsSolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricingCollaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers during preconstruction to ensure scope alignmentIdentify and assess cost-related risks and opportunities throughout the estimating processMaintain and update historical cost data and unit price databases for future referenceParticipate in value engineering efforts to maximize cost efficiency without compromising project qualitySupport the development and submission of competitive proposals, including schedules and narrativesQualifications5+ years of experience estimating commercial construction projects valued at $20–50M+Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage, Bluebeam)Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost driversAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentsExcellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
