Senior Mechanical Estimator - Plumbing

The Mechanical Estimator plays a key role in preparing comprehensive estimates for mechanical systems— exclusively in plumbing—for a variety of project types such as hard bids, negotiated bids, conceptual budgets, pre-construction, and design-build proposals. This position is responsible for attending pre-bid meetings, developing detailed scopes of work, performing accurate mechanical takeoffs, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and vendor bids, and maintaining strong industry relationships. The Mechanical Estimator will also support awarded projects through successful handoff to Operations.Key **Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical systems (plumbing) across multiple project delivery methods.Attend and participate in pre-bid meetings to gather project requirements and clarify project scope.Develop and document clear scopes of work and contracts for negotiated projects.Perform comprehensive mechanical takeoffs using QuoteSoft and Quote Express software.Solicit, review, and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers; foster ongoing relationships with vendors for material pricing.Maintain and organize the estimating database to ensure accuracy and efficiency.Ensure all estimates comply with job specifications and local building codes.Support project turnover to Operations, ensuring a seamless transition from pre-construction to execution.Leverage field experience in HVAC and plumbing installation to enhance the accuracy and practicality of estimates (preferred).Required Skills & **MUST have experience estimating pharmaceutical and/or healthcare projectsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in estimating, cost control, or engineering, with at least 5 years focused on mechanical systems estimating.In-depth knowledge of estimating techniques and expert understanding of mechanical systems and their associated costs.Proficiency in takeoff software (QuoteSoft, Quote Express).Strong ability to coordinate and supervise group estimating efforts.Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
