US or UK Citizens required. This is not a US or UK based position. The incumbent Master Electrician will operate above 600V from the Operations Support Office in Chabelley, Djibouti, Africa. The Incumbent will deploy outside the Continental US or UK to Africa. Not a US or UK based work location. SummaryThis position requires a skilled professional who will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage electrical systems, in support of Military Operations and logistical support operations. A deep understanding of electrical principles, codes, and regulations is essential. The successful Candidate must be skilled in using specialized tools and equipment for high-voltage work. Because this Master Electrician will be handling voltages typically above 600 volts and working with potentially hazardous equipment, this position requires serious expertise in safety protocols and safety regulations. The incumbent will install, modify, and maintain high voltage electrical transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, power generation, and electrical distribution equipment. The incumbent must possess all of the Master level skills, with verifiable minimum high voltage systems working experience and hold a Master Electrician’s license issued by a US State or Territory, or equivalent UK Master Approved Person Gold Card Master Electrician certification. This position is reserved for the most experienced, and highest skilled electrical professional in this location. The Master will provide supervision for a specific crew and must need little or no supervision.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare equipment for repair or replacement parts.Start equipment following repair and test performance in conjunction with other teams.Withdraw equipment, components, and materials from the stockroom inventory system and order materials from vendors as required.Perform switching and maintenance in substations, switchyards, pad-mounted equipment and in underground vaults.Install new equipment, including conduit, wire, cable, pull boxes, transformers and for repairs and alterations in high voltage systems.Install and maintain transformers, converters, regulators, cables, switches, circuit breakers, mechanical and electronic systems, and other circuit elements found in substations.Dismantle and repair primary electrical equipment, replace sectionalizing box potheads, links, and blown fuses.Operate switches to isolate and remove defective components for repair.Utilize various measuring and testing instruments to work standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.Maintain specified power plant equipment such as pumps, compressors, boilers, turbines.Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations.Use blueprints, diagrams, repair manuals, calipers, micrometers, scales, and other measuring instruments as required.May be responsible for plans and schematic reviews with written reports.Inform Leadership of status of equipment and conditions.Prepare repair requests as needed.Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with schedules, operating procedures, and equipment warranty.Perform scheduled inspections to determine if equipment is operating properly.Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical gears.Document maintenance activities, prepare reports, and keep detailed records of electrical systems.Perform duties in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner. Installs and maintains various lighting systems.Interface with customer and assure proper accountability of parts and time for each individual task.Work environment requires strict adherence to precautionary work methods and safety equipment due to the severe electrical hazards present when working near energized equipment and components.Work will require lifting heavy equipment and working at heights.Work in the outdoors with exposure to harsh climatic conditions including high temperatures above 95F degrees.Work overhead with arms raised for extended periods.Scheduled work hours up to 70 hours per week.Other duties as assigned.Experience & QualificationsUS High school diploma / GED equivalent, or UK GCSE Diploma, or an equivalent combination of formal education and ten to twelve years’ related Licensed Electricians experience.Requires High Voltage (above 600V) Electrician’s experience, skill level and physical ability necessary to perform assigned High Voltage Master Electrician functions.UK High Voltage Approved Person Master Electrician and/or US State issued Master Electrician’s license with High Voltage certification, is required.
