CHS Hedging is an agriculture focused Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) with clearing memberships at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Minneapolis Grain Exchange (MGEX). We are looking for a Risk Manager to manage the day-to-day risk monitoring needs of the FCM. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commodity derivative products, experience with monitoring market activity, and solid understanding of risk measurements (i.e. – margin, VaR, stress tests) as well how to set limits at the various required levels. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to create a strong working relationship between risk and broker teams, and work with leadership to deliver on strategic vision for the company. The ability to tackle complex problems, think critically and utilize critical judgement skills in a fast-paced market-driven trading environment is essential.ResponsibilitiesReport to the Chief Risk Officer and work to advance the goals and objectives of the risk department.Participate in bi-weekly meetings for the Firm’s Risk Management Unit (RMU) where various categories of risk are discussed, identified and reportedUtilize trade and risk monitoring tools to assess and/or monitor the risks associated with the customer activities of the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM)Contribute to the preparation of reports to our regulatory agencies including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), Minneapolis Grain Exchange (now MIAX) and the National Futures Exchange (NFA)Contribute to the development and compliance of Risk Management Program (RMP) in accordance with CFTC Regulation 1.11Review customer account opening documentation and assess the customer risk profile to determine trading limits for customers of the FCMCommunicate directly with brokers and/or customers on positions and limits or other risk related topics as necessary Assess and determine customer position limits and respond to limit change requests in a timely mannerDevelop and enhance methodologies to determine risk and reportingAssist in the design, implementation and execution of risk mediation policies and procedures.Use good judgement escalating issues in accordance with CHS Hedging LLC policies as well as our FCM ManualReview and comment on customer money movements and oversee the margin call process daily.Gather data and analysis to support senior leadership of the FCMCollaborate and develop relationships with the broader CHS Inc enterprise and its affiliates related to futures, options, and swaps on an ad hoc basisLiaison with CHS Capital for credit reviews and margin financing updates. Responsible for the review and editing of standard policies and procedures related to trade and risk monitoring processesAct as a point of contact for all risk related audit inquiries and assessments.Minimum Qualifications (required)High School diploma or GED7+ years of experience in commodity or finanical markets risk managementAdditional QualificationsBachelor’s degree preferred in accounting, finance or related degreeUnderstanding of futures and options and the factors that determine pricing of optionsAbility to handle large data sets. Analytical thinking to draw effective conclusions from dataSeries 3 license, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire Experience working in regulated environments such as SEC and CFTC Experience in the financial services industry, particularly an FCM (Futures Commission Merchant)Experience as a commodities futures and options trader (preferred)Experience in answering regulatory audit inquiries written reports to regulatory entitiesExperience with Risk monitoring software (i.e. – Global Risk, XRisk, etc)Experience with trading platforms (i.e – WebOE, CQG, QST, TT, Fidessa, etc)Preferred proficiency with coding software (i.e. - Python, C++, or SQL)Experience with Power BI and similar toolsCHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
