Summary GENERAL SUMMARY:The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.*Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.*Uses sterile technique as required.*Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.*Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services*Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.*Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.*Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.*Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questionswith courtesy and accuracy.*Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.*Keeps area properly supplied.*Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
