Job Description

We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) - Vascular Access Team! We are looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position youll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. We need someone who can collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care. Think youve got what it takes? critical care and/or vascular access experience QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in nursing or other degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreementCurrent licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification are required9 months of professional nursing experienceThe ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of unit-specific equipment, and knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform and document assessments of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needsCollect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient careAnalyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect changes in patient statusIdentify each patients needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain managementDevelop an individualized plan of care based upon the nursing assessment and re-prioritize and change as necessaryDetermine which standards of care and practice apply to the patient and coordinate among other health team members as appropriateParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferencesExecute therapeutic physician or nurse interventions according to established standardsEvaluate and document the patients response to the care provided and recognize their progress towards the desired outcomeIdentify actual/potential barriers to learning and utilize various teaching strategies to overcome them as appropriateMaintain confidentiality concerning patient/family issuesAct as a resource in educating new employees/team membersParticipate in achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities ABOUT US Since 1954, Texas Childrens has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
