The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for the smooth operation and flow of patients within the registration area. This includes greeting patients, providing information, answering phones, registering patients and entering exam orders as required. They are also responsible for obtaining all demographics, insurance information, appropriate codes, and authorizations from patients (or their representatives) and physicians in a courteous and efficient manner for billing. Other duties pertinent to optimal patient experience, patient flow, and efficient staff utilization are also expected.Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 AM - 6 PMSchedule is subject to change based on business needs.Location: Foothills Location - 4747 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, CO 80303Primary Responsibilities:Interview patients to obtain demographic, billing, and insurance information and complete all registration stepsLocate and process provider requisitionsDetermine insurance eligibilityDetermine patient payment and collect payment on insured and self-pay accountsObtain signatures for necessary paperwork including, but not limited to, financial agreements and medical release, etc.Demonstrate thorough knowledge of EMTALA regulationsProblem solves account registration issues when working reports and/or patient concernsPrioritize work according to departmental needMaintain proficiency in all necessary software modulesExercise good judgment in referring complex situations to the appropriate leadership team memberRespond to patient questions, concerns and feedback, referring them to appropriate lead or supervisorResponsible for meeting all competencies as listed on the Competency Based Orientation and regularly scheduled competency checkoffsEmployees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission StandardsIs familiar with organization, department, and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, and Medial Equipment failureMust adhere to Universal Precautions which includes a) The use of protective barriers as appropriate; *gloves *masks *gowns *pocket masks *safety glasses, b) Handling and disposing of infectious waste appropriately, c) Hand washing as appropriateKeep up to date with all hospital policies and proceduresAssist with coverage of open shifts when neededAttend staff meetings and all mandatory meetings as requiredComplete required hospital-wide training as requiredReport all supply needs, work related problems, or injuries to leadershipRead and return all e-mail, phone callsResponsible for time keeping, clocking in and out according to established guidelines, as well as, reporting absences, leaves, and tardiness according to policyEnsure that all supplies and forms are stocked in the areaAssists with other duties as requestedWhat are the reasons to consider working for UnitedHealth Group?
