Here you'll interact daily with team members during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our internal customers and their responsibilities.How will you make a difference?As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, the Quality Technical Advisor provides front line leadership for a team of production technicians. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to own responsibility for all elements of manufacturing quality in their assigned area within the Kansas City Combo Remanufacturing plant (KCR). In this role, you will drive resolution of quality problems, ensure compliance with Quality Management System procedures, and lead in process detection efforts resulting in an improved first pass yield. In short, the QTA will ensure and improve the overall quality of processes and products manufactured in their shift.What do we want to know about you? Are you a collaborative and supportive problem solver with a constant focus on continuous improvement?Experience And QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of manufacturing experience)Demonstrated work experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or Services capacity, minimum 3 years with increasing responsibilityDue to the production and process supervisory nature of this role, it is not available for remote work.Schedule/Hours:Shift: 2nd ShiftHours: 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM Monday to FridayDESIRED:Strong customer focus, able to relay and operationalize a genuine sense of urgencyExperience working with to determine root causes and implement corrective actions for Internal Defects/Non-ConformancesPeople leadership experience and influential leadership experienceExperience in developing tooling, automated data collection, and manufacturing process improvementsExperience testing and troubleshooting locomotive or locomotive components electrical and mechanical systemsExperience capturing, interpreting, and analyzing product performance dataDemonstrated hands-on technical problem-solving experienceExperience with Reliance, MES/Proficy, eServices, i360, IBIEE, Drawing Retrieval and other Wabtec supply chain quality and operational data sourcesExperience with welding, assembly, electrical, and test processes, including ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specificationsStrong computer and data analysis skills including intermediate ExcelAbility to influence others and lead cross-functional teamsAbility to communicate issues effectively at all levelsKnowledge of ISO/AAR standards, quality proceduresExperienced in process and product audit techniques; certified auditorExperience with PPAP or similar part qualification processesWhat will your typical day look like? Provide leadership as the main quality interface with the Manufacturing teamLead root cause investigations of quality issues and containments of quality escapes; issue Quality Alerts and keep all stakeholders informed on progress and resolutionTake point on addressing inspection findings. Prepare communication materials such as 4-blockers, develop action plans, issue corrective actions, and drive resolution to reduce findingsDefine, implement, and manage Quality Inspection Plans/Combo Test Plans to meet engineering specifications, AAR requirements, contractual requirements, customer quality expectations, and internal quality expectationsDefine, monitor, and improve quality metrics (Infancy/Warranty returns, DPU, NCMRs, CARs, Audits, etc.)Work closely with area team to set goals and drive continuous improvement activitiesLead quality culture improvement inside own area and across areas. Work with the Quality Manager and other QTAs to promote a customer-focused "one team" approach to qualityLearn in-process CTQs, and perform inspections as neededMentor resources including Interns, LEAD Program members, Quality Techs, and/or other QTAsContinuously develop product and process knowledge, become a product and process expertOwn process compliance: understand applicable Quality Management System documents, perform quality audits to ensure consistent adherence to procedures and processes, and drive CARs and improvement plans to address non-conformancesWhat about the physical demands of the job?Exposure to shop floor requires wearing PPEWalking, climbing, stooping, stooping, bending, lifting is all part of the hands on learning processYou may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between$67,400.00-$96,000.00The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
