Veterinarian - The LA Project(LAP) Location: Austin, TX | Full-time | On-siteAbout Us:The LAP is not your typical biotech company. We genetically engineer animals. We're combining rigorous science with a rebellious spirit, and we're looking for a veterinarian who gets that.The Role: We're seeking a veterinarian with experience in small animals (especially rabbits, cats, dogs) but willing to learn and work on a variety of animals. You will oversee the health, welfare, and procedural aspects of our animal work. You will help us develop new techniques and even perform minor surgeries. This isn't just a compliance gig. You'll be working alongside scientists at the edge of genetic engineering, helping us ensure that the animals in our care are not only healthy but thriving.What You'll Do:Oversee animal health and welfare for LAP's genetically engineered rabbits and control linesProvide veterinary guidance for surgical procedures, embryo transfers, anesthesia, post-op recovery, and husbandry protocolsCollaborate with our scientific team to refine protocols that balance welfare and experimental designHelp us navigate regulatory and ethical frameworks (yes, we do things differently, but we still do them right)Support animal model development through technical expertise and critical thinkingWho You Are:DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) with active Texas license (or ability to obtain)Experience with small mammals Experience with surgeryFamiliarity with IACUC and AAALAC standards (or at least a willingness to learn and push back intelligently)Not afraid of a little chaos, a little weirdness, and a whole lot of ambitionSomeone who cares deeply about animal welfare and the radical future of biotechNice-to-Haves:Experience with embryo transfer or assisted reproductionBackground in lab animal medicine or comparative pathologyWhy LAP?
