Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors and conveyor systems, in addition performs general nursery work.Here's what you'll do: Troubleshoots and repairs basic nursery equipmentAdjusts functional parts of equipment and control devicesRepairs or replaces defective partsPart sourcing: electronic, etc. Performs preventative maintenanceHandyman duties: plumbing, electrical, electronics and other building maintenanceInspects equipment for all defects. Informs supervisor if any defects are found. Efficiently operates electronic devices such as iPads and computersSafely operates large equipment such as: forklift, boom lifts, and other maintenance equipmentAssist with training in job responsibilities and safety proceduresPreparing and packing trees for field delivery (loading/unloading)Cleaning equipment and facilitiesMaintaining and repair irrigation systemPerforms all tasks in a safe manner. Required to wear all safety gear assigned and asks for instructions when unfamiliar or lacking knowledge of proper safety proceduresBe a self-motivated and flexible team player with a strong work ethicPerform other responsibilities related to farming or as directed by supervisorMay be required to make repairs on farming chemical equipmentQualificationsHere's what you'll do: At least 1-year maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environmentHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredTrade school/occupational training desired but not requiredMust be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is highly desired but not required. Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
