Our mission is to advance the health and wellbeing of our communities as a leader in clinical laboratory solutions.The Histology Manager assists with day-to-day supervision of Lab Assistants, Grossing Techs and Histo Techs with implementing lab safety and quality programs, will train lab staff on use of equipment and on procedures, and will perform a full range of routine and specialized procedures in the pathology laboratory. The Lab Supervisor serves as a technical resource for troubleshooting and uses independent judgment and resources to resolve problems.Location: Scottsdale, Arizona Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pmDays: Monday - FridayFull Time/Benefit EligibleIn this role, you will:Performs tasks normally associated with supervision such as hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, directing and appraising the work of assigned staffWill be a working supervisor role in which the incumbent will also perform the work of those supervisedThis position has direct reportsHold regularly scheduled one on ones with direct reports on at least a monthly basisIs an advocate for direct reports regarding ensuring ideas are heard/shared and in their career progression planning and effortsMaintain accurate records.Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, and maintain a clean and well-organized work area.Maintain proficiency and training requirements.      SupervisorySchedules and adjusts staffing to ensure adequate coverage of assigned Histology areas as required by work flow and volume in order to meet or exceed established turnaround times.  Maintains attendance records; approves overtime and requests for time off.  Provides coverage for staff as needed.Provides input and participates as directed in the evaluation of staff members for promotions, salary adjustments, annual performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations.Licensure/Education/Experience Requirements:Possesses an Associate degree in Histology, Biology, Chemistry or other related field, a Bachelor degree is preferred; degree must satisfy the CLIA standards for Grossing Surgical Specimens (12 course hours of Biology and Chemistry combined)5 or more years experience in the histology fieldHold and maintain the HT or HTL (ASCP) certification.May accept additional education and/or experience in lieu of certification when certification is not a jurisdictional requirement for the jobBonus points if you've got:2+ years of laboratory training or experience in a high volume laboratory with documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experienceWe'll give you:Appreciation for your workA feeling of satisfaction that you've helped peopleOpportunity to grow in your professionFree lab services for you and your dependentsWork-life balance, including Paid Time Off and Paid HolidaysCompetitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insuranceHelp saving for retirement, with a 401(k) plus a company matchA sense of belonging - we're a community!Scheduled Weekly Hours:40Work Shift:Job Category:Laboratory OperationsCompany:Laboratory Medicine Consultants LTDSonic Healthcare USA is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace for all employees.
