We partner with our Nurses at Sunrise Hospital!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Trauma Clinical Educator and Outreach Coordinator (TCEOC) is a registered nurse who: 1) has in-depth knowledge of the clinical aspects of trauma care delivery, trauma regulations and has clinical experience in providing comprehensive trauma care in an acute care setting, and 2) collaborates with the professional community and develops relationships with other agencies and organizations with the goal of enhancing trauma-related care and relations of those in the community/region. Clinical knowledge must encompass all aspects of initial resuscitation, intensive care management and the facilitation of the trauma patient through discharge. The TCEOC must have the knowledge, technical expertise, skills and competencies to perform as an educator and a mentor to staff along the care continuum. The TCEOC exemplifies professional nursing practice through expertise in clinical practice, and education. The TCEOC is responsible for performing a clinical assessment of the educational needs of the departments responsible for caring for trauma patients and developing an annual education plan. Utilizes evidence based practices to guide educational programs and incorporates the registry and the findings of the trauma performance improvement and patient safety process (PIPS) internally to identify educational opportunities. The TCEOC supports the community goals and objectives of the trauma program through the design and implementation of community based/outreach trauma education programs. The TCEOC coordinates and implements outreach initiatives for the trauma system / region based on trauma case data. The TCEOC participates in policy and/or procedure development, collaborates with department leaders to guide educational needs for individual departments. The TCEOC participates in the design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and systems affective to trauma population. The scope of the work encompasses assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating education needs and training to ensure staff competence. The incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions. The position oversees the Trauma Program's outreach programs to confirm the Trauma Center's verification and designation are met for outreach education, including related Performance Improvement initiatives. Trauma center public relations are inherent in this role.What you will do in this role:Assess aptitude and knowledge level of trauma patient care staff throughout the continuum of care. Conduct training needs assessments for all aspects of trauma care.Design and deliver orientation and continuing education programs for trauma staff and members of the medical staff.Provide group and one-on-one learning situations which focus on specific clinical and/or professional topics.Coordinate preceptorship program and evaluate progress of preceptees.Establish and maintain tracking systems that monitors compliance with the education and aptitude programs for trauma nursing staff and members of the medical staff.Serve as a program and community liaison resource and cultivates positive working relationships with community agencies.What qualifications you will need:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - Required (Master's Degree in Nursing) - PreferredLicense/Certifications:Registered Nurse licensed in the the state of Nevada - RequiredACLS/BLS - RequiredTNCC Instructor or within 1 year of hire - requiredExperience: 3 - 5 years in trauma nursing experience, active participation in an educational role (may be unit based or more formal education experience)2 years prior experience in professional adult education, curriculum design and course developmentSunrise Hospital & Medical Center provides Las Vegas and the Southwest region with high-quality, advanced healthcare services.
