Clinical, administrative, training Responsibilities: Essential FunctionsReview daily schedule with staff for hygiene patientsWork with front office staff to schedule hygiene patients with efficiencyAccurately chart each patient's periodontal healthClearly communicate with patients in a professional mannerPerform thorough and gentle prophylaxis for patientsPerform scaling, root planing and selective polishing for patients as appropriatePolish restorationsAdminister local anesthetics, if allowed by dental practice actPlace medicaments subgingivally for periodontal disease treatmentApply cavity-preventive agents, such as fluorides and sealantsEvaluate patient comfort level during treatment and help relieve patient anxietyAccurately and appropriately record provided treatmentEducate patients on proper oral hygiene techniquesCounsel patients on oral health, including the role of nutritionReview patient health and dental history forms and update as necessaryPerform other tasks assigned by the dentistHandle patient records securely and in compliance with HIPAA regulations along and office policies and standard operating proceduresAccurately record patient medical and dental historiesAssist in the administration of the recall systemActively participate in team meetings
