Company DescriptionLandmark Vineyards and Lewis Cellars have an internship opportunity for the 2025 growing and harvest season! We are seeking a Vineyard Tech Intern to join our team from June through October.This internship presents a unique opportunity to collaborate directly with the Grower Relations Managers and Winemaking Teams at Landmark and Lewis Cellars, as well as with some of the top grape growers in Napa, Sonoma, Monterey, and Santa Barbara Counties from whom we source our grapes. The majority of the internship will involve vineyard scouting, monitoring grape maturity, and conducting sugar sampling at our Estate Vineyards in Napa and Sonoma Counties. As vineyard responsibilities decrease, interns will spend time at Lewis Cellars assisting with various cellar harvest tasks, including cleaning, crushing, sorting, barrel work, pump-overs, and more cleaning!You will learn about the growth characteristics and nuances of several grape varieties, including Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc from Lewis Cellars, as well as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir from Landmark. You will gain insights into the viticultural aspects of daily operations, such as tracking veraison dates and assisting with crop estimates. Additionally, you will help determine the optimal timing for harvesting fruit from both the Contracted Grower's vineyards and our Estate Vineyards. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, hardworking, detail-oriented, and passionate about agriculture and continuous learning.The internship will begin in June and conclude in October. Once the Napa Cabernet harvest is complete, the internship with end at Lewis Cellars. This is a full-time seasonal position, 40-50 hours per week.Job DescriptionParticipate in the seasonal vineyard operations such as data collection, crop forecasting, vineyard monitoring, and pest scoutingConduct berry sugar sampling from the assigned vineyard blocksRun lab analysis such as brix, pH, and TAAssist with cellar tasks such as cleaning, crushing, sorting, barrel work, and pump-oversQualificationsPossessing a degree (or currently enrolled) in an Agriculture or Wine & Viticulture program is preferred; harvest and wine industry experience is recommendedAvailability to work full-time from June - October, and willing to work varying shifts, overtime and weekendsMust be at least 21 years of ageValid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required; a company vehicle and fuel will be providedPossess a positive attitude; detail-oriented and comfortable working aloneAbility to lift 50 pounds repeatedly when doing cellar workAbility to walk long distances on uneven terrain in a variety of hot and cold climatesPay Rate: $22.00 per hour, including potential overtime pay.
