Title: CNC Machinist/Programmer Location: Winston Salem, NC - 100% Onsite Duration and hire type: Direct Hire Overview: Sterling Engineering / Staffing is currently looking for a CNC Machinist/Programmer for one of our clients in the Winston Salem, NC area. In addition to 11 Paid Holidays, 2 Weeks Vacations, 401(k), etc. Job Description:Responsible for programming and operating CNC (Computer numerical control) machinery. This process is used to run many different types of machinery, including grinders, lathes, mills and routers. This machinery cuts, drills, grinds and shapes a variety of materials, from metal to plastic. Duties and Responsibilities:Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with company safety policiesProgram CNC machines to perform the task needed and monitor work to ensure complianceThis is to include setting and adjusting mills and lathes, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, conditional switches, and calculating requirementsTrain others in the proper set and operation of machines in a safe and efficient mannerOperate multiple machines simultaneously as assignedMaintain specifications and adjust as needed by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance Troubleshoot programs, issues and perform routine and minor maintenanceSubmit work orders for the maintenance requirements Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructionsFollows reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor or leadWorks with QA and Engineering for problem solving initiativesDetects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to managementUse precision gauges and instruments such as micrometers to determine and follow customers' specificationsQualifications and Experience:Specific site qualifications and progression may apply, consult with local team5+ Years of CNC Operator experience or Technical DegreePrevious experience working in a continuous improvement culture of Lean manufacturing and 6SPrior experience using precision instruments and gauges Basic computer skillsMechanical and technical aptitude and capacityPreferred Skills:Design/Programming knowledge with Macros, ESPIRIT CAD CAM software, SOLIDWORKS & JETCAM is a plusKnowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001Knowledge of CNC program codeRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, bills of material, and inspection documents to machine parts Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
