This position also requires the generation of surgical scheduling reports, along with familiarity with the patient charge function.Responsibilities And Duties:40% Scheduling function: Schedules patients for surgery via telephone or fax form Provides detailed information for all services and resources in multiple departments Obtains information to process patient registration Obtains detailed information about patient surgery, equipment needs, etc. , to perform the procedure Updates and coordinates re-schedules and cancellations, takes calls from various departments regarding the patient s schedule Monitors progress of daily schedule and makes necessary adjustments based on available resources 40% Customer Service: Answers phone calls from surgeon offices, internal departments, etc. in timely manner. Provides and receives information, for the purposes of patient scheduling, in a courteous manner. Responds to customer complaints appropriately, and notifies management of any necessary follow-up. Maintains confidentiality of all communications. 10% Identifies and coordinates needs and effectively communicates with other departments and individuals, including physicians, department staff, and office staff regarding needs. 10% Identifies and implements problems and solutions Participates in department process improvement efforts Participates in meetings, work related classes and the orientation process Performs other miscellaneous duties as neededMinimum Qualifications:High School or GED (Required)Additional Job Description:Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Familiar with surgical procedure terminology and ability to communicate with surgeons and clinical staff in a stressful working environment.
