Job Description

Medi Home Health & Hospice, a proud member of Medical Services of America family, currently seeks an experienced Complementary and Alternative Therapist for Hospice Patients in Chesapeake, VA.Responsible for providing high quality complementary and alternative therapy services to address the required bereavement, spiritual, and counseling needs of hospice patients and families in accordance with the plan of care.Provides complementary and alternative therapy services in accordance with the physician's plan of treatment and individual care plan.Provides initial assessment to the patients and families within 5 days of referral.Develops individualized complementary and alternative therapy plan of care following assessment pertaining to bereavement, spiritual care, and symptom management needs of patients and families.Provides ongoing assessment and evaluates the effectiveness of therapy services with the patients and families.Engages in discharge planning and terminates complementary and alternative therapy services when appropriate.Documents, in accordance with professional standards and hospice's documentation requirements, all therapy services provided to hospice patients and families.Coordinates the total plan of care and maintains continuity of patient care by collaborating with other health professionals. Initiates and attends patient's care conferences as needed.Attends team meetings, clinical group meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings and activities pertinent to complementary and alternative therapy, bereavement, and hospice development/growth.Educates patients, families, hospice staff, facility staff, and community about the role of the complementary and alternative therapist and the use of complementary and alternative therapy interventions with patients and families.Assists and/or facilitates funeral and memorial services as requested and available.Adheres to the practice of confidentially regarding the patients, families, staff, and organization.Refers patients to outside agencies / support / resources when necessary.Participate in continuing education for professional development, growth, and understanding.Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, company policies and procedures and process maps in the performance of job responsibilities.Practices within the scope of license, certification or registration, where applicable, and as required by law and regulation.Practices safety and infection control methods.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Performs other, yet similar, duties as needed.Job RequirementsBachelor's Degree or Equivalency in Therapy field Required, Master's Degree PreferredExperience working in health care or hospice setting preferred.Must meet all applicable educational requirements as mandated by the state.Board certification, preferred; CBMT or similarMSA offers competitive pay and excellent benefits:· Generous paid time off· Medical/Prescription, Dental & Vision Insurance and other benefits (STD, LTD, Accident & Sickness, additional life insurance, etc)· Company paid employee life insurance· 401(k) retirement with a generous company match· Opportunities for advancement· Many other great benefitsVisit us online at MSA is an Equal Opportunity Employer
