About Cristo Rey Charleston High SchoolCristo Rey Charleston High School (CRCHS) is a college preparatory, Catholic high school forstudents of all faiths, that will educate young people of limited resources to become persons offaith, purpose, and service. CRCHS is the 42nd Cristo Rey high school model in the UnitedStates and will welcome the founding class of students in August of 2027.The school will be in North Charleston, SC and will serve approximately 400 students in grades9-12 from across the greater Charleston area. Each student will participate in the CorporateWork Study Program, an integral part of the Cristo Rey model in which every student works oneday a week throughout their four years at the school. The one day per week students are atwork, teachers have extended planning and collaboration opportunities.CRCHS will prepare students to excel in college, in career, and in character. As the Founding Finance and Operations Director, they will havean opportunity to build and develop one of Charleston's most unique educational institutions andshape the support of future leaders of our community.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will develop and lead internal processes to support the followingareas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, facilities/safety, operations,and information technology.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Create and implement the first-ever CRCHS Finance & Operations Department.• Implement and lead multiple collaborative and complex projects, hire staff, directwork of staff, manage budgets, set deadlines, and ensure accountability.• Work closely with the President to set revenue goals and track revenue againstmonitored expenses.• Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with thePresident & CEO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitorprogress and changes and keep leadership team abreast of the organization'sfinancial status.• In consultation with the President & CEO, develop human resources andadministration teams ensuring consistent practices for evaluation, professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training,recruiting and retention.Fiscal and Business Office Responsibilities:• Sets accounting policies and procedures within the guidelines of generallyaccepted accounting policies and current tax regulations.• Updates Accounting Policies and Procedures manual as needed to continueimplementation of internal controls and best practices.• Oversees the business operations of the school within the framework of schoolpolicy.• Supervises the finance office staff and all business and accounting functions.• Oversees accounts receivable process, tuition collections and business partnerpayments for our Corporate Work Study Program.• Oversees the manager of transportation, dining services, custodial services andfacilities services.• Prepares and oversees the current year and five-year operating and capitalexpenditures budgets.• Works successfully with the leadership team in completing the annual and five-year budgets. Submits final budget for review to the Finance Committee before the approval of the Board of Directors.• Responsible for all accounting functions including month-end and year-end closeprocedures, filing 990 tax returns, pledge balance and contribution revenuereconciliations, fixed asset and monthly financial statement reports.• Monitors cash flows; verifies weekly check runs and other check processing.• Reviews school contracts for compliance and financial requirements.• Sets accounting policies and tax compliance requirements with the DevelopmentOffice within the framework of the school philosophy, policies, and current taxlaws.• Acts as liaison to the Board of Directors on financial matters; reports currentaccounts status at every Finance Committee meeting throughout the year.• Oversees investments within guidelines of investment and banking policies of theSchool.• Tracks purchases made related to all restricted grant funding and meets regularlywith the Development Department regarding the status of grant spending.• Coordinates annual audit preparation. Performs final review of financial statementsand presents audited statements before the Board of Directors.Human Resources:• Negotiates all employee benefits and Open Enrollment Process. Responsible foron-going education and communication with employees regarding their benefits.• Responsible for all personnel files, policies and the annual updating of employeehandbook.• Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing andnew legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management onlegal obligations regarding employees and best practice in all areas of finance andemployment.Risk management:• Monitors and oversees insurance needs and issues for the school. In consultationwith the school's insurance provider, determines sufficiency of property and liabilitycoverage.• Conducts due diligence on Board proposals and works with School Legal Counselto negotiate contracts.• Responsible for compliance with document retention policy adopted by the Boardof DirectorsQualifications • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.• 5 - 7 years' experience creating and executing financial planning and managementstrategies, ideally 5+ years of broad financial and operations management experience.• Not for Profit accounting experience preferred.• CPA preferred.• Working knowledge of GAAP, audits, and other regulatory requirements in the financialfield• Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Suites.• Experience in human resource management, employee benefits and payroll procedurespreferred• Some nights and weekends are required.CompensationThis is a full-time, year-round position with competitive salary, benefits, and paid vacation.Salary range is $110,000 - $130,000.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:• Regularly interact with students, parents, staff and visitors.• Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.• Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.How to ApplyIf you have the requested background and a passion for the mission, we invite you to apply.Applications will be accepted until the successful candidate is found.
