This role will be pivotal in coordinating survey activities, leading the surveying team, and ensuring that all surveys meet regulatory, safety, and technical standards.Job Duties And ResponsibilitiesOversee and coordinate all marine surveying activities, including site assessments, geospatial data collection, and topographic surveys.Ensure the accurate collection of data and the timely delivery of survey results to the project team.Manage survey equipment and ensure it is properly maintained and calibrated for field operations.Prepare and verify mathematical calculations related to surveying and basic engineering to include, but is not limited to: computing and adjusting angles, distances, bearings traverses and elevations, interpreting and computing field data evaluating for accuracy and completeness, maintaining accurate survey and non-survey related records in the form of field notes, reports and sketches, and maintaining vertical and horizontal control notes in files, field book and computer.Utilize CAD software to generate survey points for the field layout and gather the collected survey points to verify alignment.Conduct project research, secure equipment, use safety techniques, perform survey operations, handle equipment, record data, and perform other associated duties to deliver a successful project.Provide survey-related technical support for marine and heavy civil construction projects, including dredging, marine construction, bridge foundations, and waterfront infrastructure.Maintain detailed records of survey activities, including equipment usage, data collection methods, and adherence to safety protocols.Assist in developing project budgets and timelines by providing accurate data to support informed decision-making.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsCertification(s): Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be willing and eligible to obtain one upon hire. Valid Driver’s License. Experience: Seven (7) years of field surveying experience in the civil construction industry. Five (5) years of supervisory experience managing staff.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Thorough knowledge of surveying principles and practices. General knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulations are necessary for the project. Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling effective presentation of information and prompt responses to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Able to produce status reports. Completes fast and accurate calculations to provide analytical field reports. Identifies complex problems, develops and evaluates options, and implements solutions. Preferred QualificationsCertification(s): Bachelor of Science (BS) in Surveying or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Adult First Aid w/ CPR and AED. Licensure by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). Project Management Professional (PMP).Experience: Ten (10) years or more of experience in survey management within the marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad construction industries. Seven (7) years of supervisory experience managing staff.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, tailored to the project's specific requirements. WORKING CONDITIONSThe individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations in the workplace.The individual must also be able to wear and properly use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working or visiting areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD), and/or other protective equipment.The individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid environments, as well as loud noises and vibration.The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.The individual may occasionally be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.The individual must meet specific vision abilities, such as close vision and color vision.The individual may be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.The individual may occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods.The individual may be required to lift objects weighing a minimum of 10 lbs. and a maximum of 50 lbs. per single-person lift.
