This role is about more than just repairs"”it's about servant leadership, team support, and ensuring the shop runs smoothly and safely. The Lead will guide daily operations, support mechanics, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.Leadership ResponsibilitiesTeam Support & OversightCheck in with all mechanics daily: assess needs, offer guidance, and assign tasksMonitor road call mechanics: track locations, job status, and resource needsEnsure daily Tailgate Talks occur and are documentedProvide coaching and enforce company policies (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, PPE, Wheel Re-Torque)Conduct safety observations and promote a culture of accountabilityWorkflow ManagementReview and prioritize the daily down listAssign work based on fleet needs and mechanic availabilityEnsure proper shop coverage and staggered breaks/lunchesOversee completion of Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) and work ordersHandle door traffic repairs and assign work to self as neededFleetwalk & CommunicationAssist with Fleetwalk inspections and ensure defects are addressedRecord all door traffic (DT) and road calls (RC) dailySend end-of-shift summary emails detailing:DT & RC activityTrucks downRepairs completedTrucks needing night shift attentionTechnical ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systemsUse diagnostic tools: Cummins INSITE, Davie-4, Allison DOC, Detroit Diesel softwarePerform preventative maintenance and general repairsConduct MIG welding as neededMaintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environmentQualificationsMinimum 3 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance and repairProficient with diagnostic software and basic computer skillsMust have personal tools and toolboxAbility to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and work in various physical positionsWelding experience is a plusClass A or B CDL preferred but not requiredStrong communication and leadership skillsSafety-Sensitive RoleThis is a safety-sensitive position.
