Title: Welding Engineering TechnicianLocation: Chattanooga, TNJob Type: Fulltime (Onsite)ABOUT THE POSITIONThis position requires a detailed knowledge of welding codes specifications and procedures. Including the ability to write specification and welding procedure. Detailed knowledge of the following GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW, hard automation and robotics. And experience with equipment financial justification.Key Activities & ResponsibilitiesLearn and stay current on welding codes (AWS and ASME)Participate in the development welder trainingMay provide task-oriented direction to techniciansProvide technical support if needed, for welder performance testingAssisting with departmental business planningActing as a technical resource to other technicians, including mentoring and directionParticipate in design reviews to aid the Engineering Groups develop design for manufacturabilityConduct cost assessment and reviews for new equipment and for cost savings projectsEstablish baseline cost analysis of production processes for improvement initiativesCompile data, create spreadsheets, and analyze data related to welding process efficiencies and labor improvementsCreate reports and presentations as a result of analysis of current process vs. new processWork with production supervisors and personnel to assess current welding/manufacturing issues Qualifications:• Associates degree in Welding Technology with a minimum of 0-2 years of experience or 15 years welding related work• Experience with code work (AWS) required (ASME, API 1104 preferred)• Typically, works with minimal direct supervision, conferring with superiors as needed. Has appreciable latitude for independent action or decision.• The ability to be a Change agent• Work closely with Design groups to understand the manufacturing requirements for welded assemblies• Understanding of 3D modeling program viewers to interrogate solid model designs. Ability to use Solidworks and AutoCAD a plus• Microsoft Office Skills• Organized and detail oriented• Highly motivated and self-directed• Analytical thinker and problem-solver• Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills• Ability to create, design, and analyze blueprints and drawings• Project Management
