This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.Job Summary:The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for use in diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. The Nuclear Cardiology Technologist will create and enhance diagnostic images, collect biological specimens, and prepare data for interpretation by the physician. The incumbent will follow radiation safety guidelines and document radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance.Job Responsibilities:Perform a variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the nuclear cardiac physicianPerform high-quality dynamic, static, and gated SPECT and PET imaging procedures to obtain desired diagnostic patient information for imaging and referring physiciansConduct daily operation of a variety of SPECT and PET/CT cameras and computers to produce images of high diagnostic quality as observed by the nuclear cardiac physician and supervisorPerform various radiopharmacy duties, including receipt, preparation, administration, and storage of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticalsObtains radionuclides by eluting generator systems or from bulk shipment, maintaining sterile technique and shieldingCheck radioactive materials for leakage and activity as observed by the supervisor or the radiation safety officerPerform Quality Control procedures to ensure optimal performance of gamma cameras, computers, and other related auxiliary equipment (dose calibrators, well counters, etc.)Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality control on all instrumentation, including uniformity checks, linearity, center of rotation, and other indicated tests to ensure all equipment is in proper working order as observed by the supervisor or peersPractice safe handling of radioactive materials to ensure minimal radiation exposureFollow ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) guidelines for radiation exposure, including use of syringe shields and lead carrying cases, as observed by supervisor and peers, and as evidenced by monthly film badge reportsSchedule patients for procedures in EPIC and track assigned patients' arrival and completion status as observed by the supervisorOther duties as required.Job Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years of experience requiredGraduation from an A.M.A.-approved program in Nuclear Medicine is requiredDemonstrated technical skills to meet entry-level standards of routine Nuclear Cardiac imaging, NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required (may not be on any type of probation)CPR Certification requiredLICENSURE ARRT (N) or NMTCB requiredMust have a basic knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear medicine equipment, and nuclear cardiac imaging proceduresStrong knowledge of anatomy, computer/electronic health record/PACS applications, good organizational skills, and outstanding patient care/communication/customer service skillsMust be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfersAn associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.61st Street Service CorporationAt 61st Street Service Corporation, we are committed to providing our clients with excellent customer service while maintaining a productive environment for all employees.
