Job Description

The Assisted Living & Memory Support Director is responsible for the provision, supervision, and coordination of all services for the Assisted Living department while upholding the highest standards of care. The A.L. Director will promote the philosophy, policies, and protocols of the community, in accordance with state standards.Ensures that all resident rights and responsibilities are protected and enforced. Ensures compliance with all state rules and regulations of Assisted Living.Conducts the admission process interviewing and assessing prospective residents. Completes initial assessments and writes initial resident service plans and updates them minimally annually and with all significant changes when needed.Assesses ongoing changes in the Level of Care and assures that residents are in appropriate level of care.Performs chart audits quarterly and addresses concerns; maintains all records and communications as required by state agencies. Coordinates and facilitates ongoing care assessment meetings. Responsible for the transfer/discharge process whereby residents are transitioned smoothly to other levels of care, as required. Works with families to assure a smooth transition. Develops and implements systems to ensure the highest level of care for residents to meet or exceed state regulations; ensures resident satisfaction and achievement of their realistic goals.Participates in departmental operating budget and in ongoing financial meetings.Ensures that family members as well as other departments are kept apprised of the ongoing needs of their family members and receive communication relating to AL changes and/or resident changes.Responds to concerns of residents and family members. Interfaces with the public, building community partnerships through visiting other properties and their programming. Works closely with Volunteer Coordinator and takes an active role in volunteer success in areas supervised.Works with the marketing department to maintain occupancy goals by streamlining the evaluation and admissions process. Coordinates with transportation, dining, maintenance, lifestyles, and housekeeping departments to assure that the needs of residents are met, and expectations exceeded. Participates in Resident Council. Participates in administrative duties such as payroll, staffing, hiring, orientation, ongoing training and in-services, evaluations, and the disciplinary process of Assisted Living team members, in compliance with state regulations and company policies and procedures.Creates and maintains a positive environment which encourages team member growth, involvement, creativity, and effective problem-solving.Supervises the Lifestyles Coordinators in Assisted Living and Memory Support to create and implement a dynamic roster of programs and events. Participates as part of the Management Team and as part of the Manager on Duty rotation.Educational Requirements and Experience: Assisted Living certification per state regulations or ability to obtain within 6 months.Licensed Nurse in the state of Texas is required (LVN, RN).Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Assisted Living or Memory Care facility.Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Language Ability:Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking the primary language of the residents.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.Cognitive Demands:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills:Ability to use Microsoft Windows. Ability to use software to design calendars and signs. Ability to use the Internet. Competencies:Knowledge of federal and state employment lawsExcellent oral and written communication skills, as well as exceptional customer service skillsEffective interviewing skillsExcellent interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively manage Team Member conflict resolution Detail oriented and excellent organizational and follow-through skills
