Job DutiesPerform a series of manual adjustments to the spine, or other articulations of the body, in order to correct the musculoskeletal systemEvaluate the functioning of the neuromuscular skeletal system and the spine using systems of chiropractic diagnosisDiagnose health problems by reviewing patients' health and medical histories; questioning, observing and examining patients; and interpreting x-raysMaintain accurate case histories of patientsAdvise patients about recommended courses of treatmentAnalyze x-rays in order to locate the sources of patients' difficulties and to rule out fractures or diseases as sources of problemsCounsel patients about nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, and other mattersArrange for diagnostic x-rays to be takenConsult with and refer patients to appropriate health practitioners when necessarySuggest and apply the use of supports such as straps, tapes, bandages, and braces if necessaryPerform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), if applicableOversee work hardening, if applicableOther duties as assigned Minimum RequirementsPennsylvania Doctor of Chiropractic LicenseAdditional courses in physical therapy are advantageousAdditional Skills/CompetenciesMedicine – Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measuresCustomer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfactionTherapy and Counseling – Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidancePhysical/Mental RequirementsSitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, crawling, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting max. of 20 lbs.
