Director of Surgical ServicesLocation: Hopewell, VASchedule: Full-Time | Days | No WeekendsPosition Type: Permanent Position OverviewA well-established acute care hospital in Hopewell, Virginia is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead and manage all perioperative areas, including Operating Room, Pre/Post-Op, PACU, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing. This position plays a critical role in driving clinical quality, operational performance, and surgical service line growth.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 24/7 operational and strategic leadership across all surgical services departmentsLead a team that includes one Manager, three Clinical Nurse Coordinators, and approximately 70 FTEsEnsure high-quality patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient experienceCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia and senior hospital leadershipDrive service line growth, including robotic surgery and GYN program expansionManage department budget, capital equipment planning, and resource allocationPromote a culture of accountability, engagement, and clinical excellenceLead initiatives to improve efficiency, patient flow, and case volumeDepartment Overview4 Operating Rooms, 3 Endoscopy SuitesHigh-volume orthopedic program (hips, knees) utilizing Mako robotic technologyGeneral surgery with upcoming DaVinci robotic platform launchExpanding sports medicine and GYN servicesSurgical volume ranges from 7 cases (light) to 26 cases (busy days)On-call responsibilities for weekendsQualificationsBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredMaster’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferredActive RN license in the state of Virginia or compact state requiredMinimum of 3 years of leadership experience in surgical/operating room settingCNOR and/or CSSM certification preferredCompensation and BenefitsSalary Range: $96,137 – $153,816, based on experience and qualifications15% annual bonus eligibilityNegotiable sign-on and relocation bonusesOpportunity to lead a growing, well-supported surgical program in a high-acuity hospital settingReporting StructureReports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)Responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team across all surgical services unitsThis is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced perioperative professional ready to lead a growing surgical services department in Hopewell, Virginia.Apply now or contact us for more information.
