Lab Section Supervisor

Location: Dover, DE Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Shift: Evening Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PMJob Summary:A supervisory and technical role responsible for managing the operations of designated laboratory section(s). This role provides oversight in quality assurance, compliance, staffing, and process improvement under CLIA regulations. The Lab Section Supervisor works collaboratively with the Medical Director, Lab Managers, and Pathologists to ensure optimal laboratory performance and regulatory adherence.Key Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with TJC, AABB, CLIA, and state/federal regulations for assigned lab section(s).Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures; initiate corrective actions for any deficiencies identified.Maintain equipment functionality and ensure relevant documentation is reviewed annually.Oversee quality assurance programs including proficiency testing, competency assessments, and performance monitoring.Select and validate test methodologies, technologies, and quality control standards.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; provide consultative support to clinical staff.Maintain awareness of emerging laboratory technologies and implement process improvements.Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; manage daily staffing and student rotations.Monitor inventory, manage vendor relations, and participate in budgeting and purchasing.Complete and approve payroll, employee evaluations, and disciplinary actions in a timely manner.Ensure staff compliance with safety, infection control, HR, and institutional policies.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree with:16 semester hours in biological sciences (including microbiology),16 semester hours in chemistry (including organic or biochemistry),1 semester of mathematics.Certifications:Certified Medical Technologist required.Experience:Minimum of 4 years in a laboratory specialty area.At least 1 year of supervisory experience (e.g., Lead Tech or Charge Tech).Preferred:Previous supervisory experience within a clinical laboratory specialty.Other Details:Evening shift only.One position available.No holiday coverage required.State license to be obtained upon acceptance.
