Oral Surgery Assistant - MUST be a certified Surgical Assistant in the D.C. area!DETAILSLocation: On-Site in Washington, D.C.Position Type: FTE (60 Day Contract to Hire)Compensation: 28-30/hr BoE on contract with a salary range of 58k-62k after conversion*To be considered, candidates MUST be certified in the D.C. area*Responsibilities:Surgical DutiesResponsibilities include sterilizing and maintaining instruments, setting up surgical trays, and preparing procedure rooms for IV sedation and surgeries. The assistant will seat patients, review medical charts, manage nitrous oxide setups, and help position patients safely. Skills in monitoring sedated patients, managing airways, and recognizing emergency situations are essential. Regular equipment maintenance and patient support are also key parts of the role.Patient Interaction & SupportThe assistant must be capable of calming patients, circulating during procedures, and evaluating post-op recovery. Identifying when medical intervention is necessary and delivering quality care throughout the process is crucial.Administrative & Non-Surgical TasksOutside of the surgical suite, duties include managing paperwork, preparing consent forms, scheduling appointments, and documenting EMR notes. The assistant will also handle X-rays or scans, provide post-op instructions, and make follow-up calls to patients.Daily Operations & TeamworkOpening and closing the office, ensuring systems like suction and X-ray machines are functional, and maintaining OSHA compliance are part of the routine. The assistant should be comfortable stepping in to support team members as needed.REQUIREMENTSD.C. area certified Surgery AssistantCompletion of an accredited Surgical Assistant programDental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) CPR/BLS certificationGreat organizational and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
