Director of Social Services- Family Shelter

A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Director of Social Services to lead social services operations at a family transitional residence program funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services. About the Opportunity:Schedule: Monday to FridayHours: 9am to 5pm (one 1pm to 9pm shift per week)Responsibilities:Oversee the Case Manager Supervisor who manages 7 Case Managers, as well as directly supervise 3 Housing Specialists, 3 Social Workers, and the Recreation Department staffMaintain daily communication with the Department of Homeless Services through reports, incident management, and compliance monitoringConduct supervisory chart audits, weekly team meetings, case conferences, and manage critical filesCrisis Response: Serve in on-call capacity for incidents (schedule varies - could be daily or weekly depending on facility needsEnsure contract requirements are met, track client progress, and maintain ACS case oversightPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:2+ years of relevant work experienceBachelor's DegreePrevious experience in a Shelter and/or related settingMicrosoft Office proficientGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills:Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling / Guidance, and/or Art TherapyOne of the following licensures: LCSW, LMSW, and/or LMHCBilingual (English and Spanish)Previous supervisory experience in DHS Tier 2 facilitiesExperience working with diverse populations, including families, children, and individuals with complex needsKnowledge of Housing Subsidies, Entitlements, and NYC Housing landscape
