The ideal candidate will have a strong background in personal injury law, specifically related to automobile accidents. This role involves representing the company in legal matters, managing claims, and providing expert legal advice to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, you will work closely with the claims department to ensure legal compliance, mitigate risk, and negotiate settlements. Your role will involve staying current on Texas insurance laws, advising internal teams, and actively participating in mediation, arbitration, and settlement discussions to protect the company’s interests. This position is open to applicants located in the Texas market and offers the flexibility of working remotely.DUTIES:Manage and litigate property damage claims, including first-party property claims, subrogation, and bad faith litigationRepresent the company in all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigations to trial and post-trial activitiesDevelop case strategies, draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trialsProvide expert legal advice to the claims department, management, and other internal teams regarding property damage claimsEnsure that all actions taken during the claims process comply with applicable laws and regulationsAdvise on legal risk related to policy interpretations, claims settlements, and potential exposureNegotiate settlements on behalf of the company in a timely and cost-effective mannerParticipate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences with a focus on favorable outcomes for the companyConduct thorough legal research on property damage, insurance laws, and regulations in Texas, including recent court decisions and statutory developmentsPrepare clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents such as briefs, memoranda, and opinionsStay current with changes in insurance and property damage laws in Texas, ensuring the company is compliant with local, state, and federal lawsAssist in developing policies and procedures to minimize legal exposure and maximize operational efficiencyCollaborate with the claims department, adjusters, and other legal teams to provide proactive and responsive legal supportCommunicate complex legal concepts and strategies to non-legal personnel clearly and effectivelyQualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the Texas Bar and good standingBilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirableStrong understanding of insurance laws and regulationsAbility to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective strategiesProficient in legal research tools and case management softwareSKILLS & EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 3-5 years of years of experience in personal injury law, with a focus on automobile accidentsStrong litigation experience with trial skills preferredExcellent negotiation, oral advocacy, and legal writing skillsAbility to handle a high volume of cases and prioritize effectivelyProficiency in case management software, legal research tools, and Microsoft OfficeBENEFITS:401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with employer matchComprehensive Medical, Prescription Drug, Vision, and Dental InsurancePaid Time Off, Holidays, and Leave programsFlexible spending accountsBasic Life Insurance and Voluntary Life/ADDShort Term and Long-Term DisabilityUAIC participates in the E-Verify program to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees.
