Job Title: Surgical Scheduler – Sports Medicine Orthopedic SurgeonLocation: Bloomfield Hills and Clarkston, MichiganSchedule: Full Time, Monday–Friday, On-site Compensation: Based on experienceBenefits: Health Insurance, Dental & Vision, 401(k) with match after 1 year, PTO, 7 Paid HolidaysPosition Summary:We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Surgical Scheduler to support a high-volume, fast-paced sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare scheduling, possess knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy, and be familiar with orthopedic surgical procedures.This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling surgical procedures and coordinating all pre-operative logistics. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a dynamic environment.Key Responsibilities:Manage the surgeon’s clinic and surgical schedule, coordinating efficiently with internal and external stakeholders.Schedule surgical procedures in coordination with hospitals, surgical centers, and vendors.Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies as required for surgical procedures.Coordinate necessary equipment, implants, and surgical supplies with facilities and vendors.Ensure all pre-operative labs, imaging, and documentation are complete and submitted timely.Track and manage all pre-surgical tasks to ensure surgeries proceed without delay.Serve as a liaison between patients, the physician, surgical facilities, and internal teams.Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism during all patient interactions.Maintain excellent phone etiquette, responding to patient and facility inquiries efficiently.Communicate effectively with medical assistants, physician assistants, and other staff.Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a go-getter attitude in day-to-day responsibilities.Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling or healthcare administration (orthopedic experience strongly preferred).Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and orthopedic procedures.Proven ability to manage complex schedules and prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment.Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.High-level interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with staff and providers.Proficient in EMR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling software.Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced setting.Demonstrated strong work ethic and a proactive, patient-first mindset.Why Join Us?We are a growing orthopedic practice committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
