Physical Therapy AssistantSanta Clara, CAWe have multiple openings available: Burlingame, Stanford, Forster City, Alameda, Almaden, Willowglen, Los GatosCompensation: 80-95KSUMMARY:Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, working in collaboration with licensed Physical Therapist and within a determined plan of care, administers and implements physical therapy treatment interventions for patients suffering from injuries or muscle, joint, or bone disease to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability by performing the following duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTreats acute and chronic injuries and related disabilitiesCommunicate with the treating physical therapist about the patient’s response to the treatmentCoordinates any treatment changes with the treating therapistAdministers resisted exercises to improve and maintain function and prescribes routine and corrective exercisesImplements a variety of neuromuscular re-education techniques including PNF, PRE, and balance activitiesInstructs motivates, and assists patients to perform various physical activities and use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches and canesInstructs individualized rehabilitation programs including functional exercises, mobility, and gait training in accordance with the prescribed plan of careMobilizes and stretches soft tissuesApplies or directs the application of modalities including but not limited to heat, cold, ultrasound, iontophoresis, electrotherapy, and hydrotherapy as needed to promote healingInstruct patients in correct body mechanics for activities of daily living and prevention of injuryTailors home exercise programs based on diagnosis, relevant critical pathways, and functional limitations in accordance with established goals in the plan of careProvides education and instruction to patients and their caregivers on the mechanism of injury, safety procedures, home exercise programs, self-care, and injury preventionAdministers soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques for pain management and improved mobilityRecords treatment, response, and progress in electronic medical records according to company policyCorrectly completes documentation in a timely mannerComplies with all HIPAA rules and regulations and company policy and proceduresCollaborates and cooperates with business office staff to ensure proper coding and administrative protocols are followed for the verification, authorization, billing, collections, and record requestsQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, healthcare providers, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to patients, their caregivers, small groups, and/or healthcare providersMathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryReasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Required Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:Valid California Physical Therapy Assistant License or PTA License Applicant Valid CPR/AED certificationPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
