Compression Mechanical, a Blake & Pendleton, Inc. subsidiary, is looking for a Shop Fabricator/Welder to join the team. A Compression Mechanical Shop Fabricator/Welder supports the Compression Mechanical Warehouse. A Shop Fabricator Welder combines welding skills with fabrication knowledge to create metal structures and components, following blueprints and adhering to quality standards.Shop Fabricator/Welder requirements are: High school diploma or GED (required)Technical/vocational training in welding or metal fabrication (preferred)2–5 years of welding/fabrication experience in a shop environmentApprenticeship or trade school certification (a plus)Proficiency in welding techniques: MIG, TIG, Stick (depending on job)Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical schematicsSkilled in using fabrication tools and equipment, such as:o Grinders, saws, torches, brakes, shears, plasma cutters, etc.Measuring and layout skills using tape measures, calipers, squaresFamiliarity with metal types and fabrication processes (cutting, bending, fitting)Ability to weld different materials: steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.Welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, D1.3, ASME codes)Forklift or crane operator certification (optional but beneficial)OSHA 10/30-hour safety certification (depending on company policy)Able to lift 50+ lbs regularlyComfortable working in noisy, dusty, or hot environmentsAbility to stand, kneel, crouch, and move for long periodsWear PPE (gloves, helmet, boots, etc.)Attention to detail and quality controlStrong problem-solving and critical thinking abilitiesGood communication and teamwork skillsTime management and ability to meet deadlinesShop Fabricator/Welder duties include, but are not limited to:Understanding technical drawings to determine how to fabricate and weld components. Using tools like saws, shears, and grinders to prepare metal for welding. Utilizing MIG, TIG, arc, or other welding processes to join metal parts according to specifications. Performing visual inspections, testing welds, and ensuring they meet quality requirements. May be involved in assembling and installing completed structures. Operating tools like forklifts, overhead cranes, and drill presses as needed. Follow safety procedures and organize the shop.
