The Colwell Law Group is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Attorney to join our Syracuse office. We are known for our client-centered approach, professional excellence, and collaborative internal culture.About the Role:The Senior Attorney will manage a full caseload of complex divorce, custody, and support matters, with the support of experienced paralegals, legal assistants, and our intake and client relations teams. You’ll lead case strategy, represent clients in court, and mentor junior associates. This is a highly visible role with strong leadership potential.Responsibilities:Independently manage and litigate contested divorce, custody, and support casesDevelop comprehensive case strategies and communicate expectations clearly to clientsAttend court conferences, hearings, and trials in Supreme and Family CourtReview and supervise pleadings, motions, financial disclosures, and discoveryWork closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure case milestones are metProvide leadership and guidance to associate attorneys when appropriateContribute to firmwide legal excellence and client satisfaction initiativesRequirements:JD from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State BarMinimum 5 years of experience in family and matrimonial law, or 5+ years of strong litigation experience with a demonstrated interest in transitioning to family lawProven courtroom experience and confidence managing contested mattersStrong legal writing, negotiation, and case management skillsClient-first mindset with the ability to deliver clarity in emotionally complex situationsHigh professional standards and team-oriented attitudeCompensation & Benefits:Base salary ranging from $110,000 to $130,000, depending on experienceQuarterly bonus opportunities with total annual earning potential of $160,000 to $200,000 based on: • Personal production (billables/collections) • Client origination • Team performance • Firm contribution and leadership initiativesComprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k) with employer matchOngoing CLE support, professional development, and mentorship opportunitiesA strong intake pipeline — focus on practicing, not prospectingApply Now:To apply, send your resume and a brief cover letter to arichards@.
