This position will be full-time contract and onsite in Fremont, California.This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pmWhat You’ll DoDevelop and administer cost-effective systems that meet inventory control needs through efficient transportation of raw materials, component parts, and finished goods, analyzing transportation modes and methods based on customer needs, carrier cost and performance audits, and recommending changes as required to maximize asset utilizationInterpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licensesEnsure all transportation activities are safe and compliant with local, state, and federal DOT regulations, track changes to regulations, and modify policies and procedures in responseEvaluate freight classifications, tariff rates costs, appropriate routing and carriers (third-party transportation companies) to be used and negotiate costs and services with domestic and international courier service providersMaintain accurate travel, order/delivery tracking, inspection, and maintenance records, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, vendor invoices, and/or export documentation and logs on routes, rates, and services on various vendorsEvaluate the efficiency of means of transportation and proposes improvements to optimize the distribution process including reviewing proposals and recommending modifications in rates or transportation regulationsPlan and coordinate fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, disposal of trucks, and hires common carriers (third-party transportation companiesMay investigate and respond to incidents or accidents and internal, customer, carrier, and vendor inquiries regarding shipping status, misdirected and/or damaged goods (including negotiating settlement of damage claims), freight pick-up/delivery times, and expediting shipmentsServe as a resource on regulations, such as hazardous material packaging and shippingCoordinate transfer of assets related to business acquisitions and divestituresWhat You'll NeedRequired:Experience in planning and coordinating fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, disposal of trucks, and hiring common carriers (third-party transportation companies)Skill in investigating and responding to incidents or accidents and internal, customer, carrier, and vendor inquiries regarding shipping status, misdirected and/or damaged goods, including negotiating settlement of damage claims, freight pick-up/delivery times, and expediting shipmentsPreferred:Fundamental knowledge of specific functional discipline to resolve routine issues or problems of limited scopeAbility to exercise some consistent discretion and independent judgment and apply skills and fundamental knowledge of theories and principles to understand specific needs or requirementsPhysical DemandsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standardsSedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitorRegularly required to wear steel toe shoesThe pay for this position is $30.00 per hour (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will include medical coverage as well as 401k retirement account access.
