Manager Trainee

Step into a Manager Trainee role within our team of motivated Core Management Associates. We are seeking a retail leader who is energized by the opportunity to work in the grocery department, as well as the front-end of the store, taking on a variety of hands-on responsibilities. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment while developing the skills to take on the next level of management.As a Manager in Training, you will learn all aspects of the grocery business, from customer service to operations, fostering a culture where you feel welcome, included, and celebrated. In this role, your responsibilities will include: Gaining the skills, knowledge, and expertise required to efficiently oversee the grocery and front-end department Partnering closely with our Core Management team to lead, direct, and supervisor Associates, fostering a positive team environment Collaborating with our Core Management team to lead, direct, and supervise Associates, fostering a positive team environment Collaborating with our Core Management team to understand variables that impact store profitability and assists with controlling such variables affecting stores profitability including gross margin, inventory control, and operating expenses Assisting in payroll management, Associate scheduling, inventory and ordering Responding to and resolve Associate issues including, but not limited to, schedule concerns, job performance accountability, and customer complaints Building relationships with vendors and assisting the Core Management team in holding vendors accountable to Dierbergs standards Providing exceptional customer service, ensuring positive shopping experience for customers Acting as a Store Manager in their absence, demonstrating effective leadership and decision-making skills Other duties as assigned Qualifications for Success:2+ years of supervisory experience in retail, grocery, food service, or hospitalityHigh school diploma or GED required; college degree preferredStrong problem-solving, decision making, and conflict management skillsExcellent leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate others and foster a positive team environmentUphold Dierbergs standards for professionalism and appearanceProven track record of dependability and reliability in previous rolesStrong moral compass and ability to make ethical decisions, even in challenging situationsFlexibility to accommodate a varied schedule, including nights and weekends, to support operational needsMust be willing to transfer to any available store location within the St Charles and St. Louis Metropolitan area Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 20 lbs. frequentlyAbility to push and pull up to 90 lbs. of force occasionally Occasional: Sitting and climbing, frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, and handlingFrequent: Head turn, trunk bend, side reach, grasp, power grip, pinch, finger manipulation, & feelConstant - Stand, handling, & forward reach Why Dierbergs is Different: Our culture makes us unique.
