R&D- Project Manager III

The R&D Powder Quality Project Manager position plays a crucial role in cultivating a customer centric, high-performance culture built on mutual trust and integrity through partnership and collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Global Supply Chain and other groups to support and secure new and existing business.  The ideal candidate thrives in building cross-functional partnerships in a matrix environment while driving strategic initiatives supporting growth, efficiency, cost savings and innovation.  This Project Manager should have strong knowledge and experience with powder-based coatings manufacture, product stewardship and regulatory requirements as well as global functional powder customer markets.Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Please be aware, Sherwin-Williams recruiting team members will never request a candidate to provide a payment, ask for financial information, or sensitive personal information like national identification numbers, date of birth, or bank account numbers during the application process.•    Works collaboratively with R&D, Sales and Marketing to support and secure new business as well as maintain current customer base•    Shepherds the development of key investment opportunities that drive significant strategic growth•    Designs and executes experiments, draws conclusions and makes recommendations•    Provides written updates and presents technical materials. •    Maintains interactions with vendors, customers and various internal stakeholder groups to ensure successful R&D efforts on new/ improved products•    Functions with limited supervisory input•    Leads multiple technically complex projects simultaneously•    Leads multiple large projects with a strong focus on management of change•    Leads projects with cross functional/ global teams and communicates to stakeholders on project plans, updates and timelines•    Serves as Subject Matter Expert•    Communicates detailed ideas concisely through written communications•    Communicates barriers/ concerns potentially impactful to project quality/ timelines and proposes resolutions•    Displays knowledge of and complies with all safety and security regulations•    Travels for technical conferences and product commercialization support •    Provides external customer service•    Trains/ mentors others•    Provides laboratory project support utilizing project management and time management skills•    Adheres to quality standards in accordance with the Global Business Management System BASIC QUALIFICATIONS•    Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).•    Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.  •    Project Management Professional certification (or obtain within one year of accepting role)•    5 years of project leadership experience•    5 years of coatings specific industry experience•    Experience with solvent based and waterborne, epoxy and urethane chemistries and/ or powder coating chemistries•    Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings•    Understanding of when/ how to employ analytical chemistry techniques•    Practical understanding of spectral measurement data •    Demonstrated strong market knowledge, customer experience and relationships with Sales and Marketing groups•    Strong strategic perspective and ability to deal with complex requirements while setting priorities•    Proven problem-solving and decision-making ability•    Proven experience executing data-based strategic initiatives•    Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication and data analysis•    Excellent math skills•    Familiar with Design of ExperimentsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•    Proficient in statistics and data analysis•    Creative thinking skills•    Experience in FBE technology•    Green Belt trained/certifiedTravel Requirements: 30% Domestic and InternationalThis position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.If based at Warrensville Technical Center, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based at Warrensville Technology Center, located at 4440 Warrensville Center Road, Warrensville Hts, OH 44128.
