About the Role: The Sr. Estimator, T&D ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth while maintaining and growing relationships with internal and external customers and clients. The Sr. Estimator, T&D is responsible for preparing complete cost estimates, as well as responses to Requests for Proposals for large transmission, distribution and substation construction projects. The Sr. Estimator, T&D is responsible for the mentoring and training of Estimators. Essential FunctionsPrepare complete labor and material cost estimatesOutline and prepare responses to request for proposalsComplete cost estimates for assigned projects, with definable work tasks for transmission, distribution and substation projectsPerform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparationPrepare comprehensive bid submittals, including work plans, schedules, clarifications, etc.Develop strategies for being awarded projectsHelp maintain and develop estimating databaseDevelop relationships with clientsAssist other members of the Estimating team with cost estimates and bid package preparationContribute to/review and evaluate Estimating staff performanceCompare various project documents for accuracy and consistencyPerform operational contract redlines and coordinate with the legal department, and understand how contractual items affect the bid/workDetermine constructability requirements via field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnelAttend on site pre-bid meeting and perform job site visitsField job walks and pre-bid meeting may require travel/overnight staysLead estimate review process with internal and external stake holdersCoordinate with Project ManagementPrepare and submit change ordersAssist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimatesFollow-up at the end of projects to close any loops in the estimating process to include invoicing and cost trackingCommunicate with field supervision regarding project status, changes, etc.Ensure profitability and growthEvaluate possible areas for potential value engineering cost savings and produce backupOther duties as assignedRegular and predictable attendanceEssential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field locationUnderstand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards About You: QualificationsMinimum 10 years of electrical construction estimating experienceHigh school diploma or GEDBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree preferredSkills and AbilitiesProven ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include drawings, proposals and other relevant documentsWorking knowledge of electrical materials and methods of installationProficient with Microsoft Office applicationsProven ability to prepare work plans for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of workAdvanced knowledge of construction means & methods for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of work, including materials and subcontracted scopes of workRisk identification & mitigation planning for estimate preparationExcellent analytical and organizational skillsStrong communication skills, including verbal, and writtenAbility to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team playerSelf-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently What We Offer: Compensation & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience, paid weekly via direct deposit. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
