That’s why we give you a wide range of benefits to choose from.  All regular full time employees may enroll in a variety of health and welfare plans including medical, dental and vision plans.  Other benefits include life insurance, employee assistance program, and retirement program.  The company also has a variety of voluntary benefits for employees to choose from.Compensation$32.00 to $38.00 HourlyResponsibilitiesService trucks and heavy equipment using various hand and power toolsOil changes, remove/replace wheels for clutch and brake work, replace G.E.T, etc.Comply with CalPortland’s safety and environmental programs and requirementsTroubleshoot, repair, commercial trucks, and equipmentCommunicate status of downed vehicles to lead mechanicMaintain repair, service, and maintenance recordsPrepare work orders and order parts in SAP operating systemSafely perform repairs in the field during inclement weather; report all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occurMay be required to perform other related duties as neededEducationHigh school diploma/GEDRequirements/QualificationsJourneyman level mechanic with 3-5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel and medium fleet automotive (preferred)Knowledge of industrial and shop safety rules and proceduresAbility to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for proper operation before and after maintenanceComputer experience entering data for work orders and purchasing partsExperience with basic fabrication, use, and application of welders and gas torch systemsExperience performing preventative maintenanceReliable attendanceAbility to work safely and efficiently independently and as a teamMust be able to bring tools necessary to perform the functions of the jobBe able to communicate in verbal and written formClass A driver’s license preferredWill consider applicants that have recently completed diesel mechanic schoolingConditions of EmploymentSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
