Underwriter Associate

We are currently seeking an individual with an appetite for meeting challenges and delivering results to fulfill a critical part in the creation of policies for our customers. As one of our premier Underwriters, you'll review insurance applications and evaluate their potential risk to Sentry.What You'll DoAs a Commercial Lines Underwriter you will work closely with our sales personnel in order to obtain information needed to underwrite, price and program individual policies/accounts.  In addition you'll:Utilize manuals, procedures and collected information to handle basic to complex underwriting assignments while referring business outside of authority limitsPerform placement of basic reinsurance assignmentsWork closely with other business functions to ensure service and quality objectives are metMaintain privacy and confidentiality of policy holder informationCommunicate with insureds on present issues and opportunitiesAttend/partake in company/industry sponsored continuing education seminarsMay assist with training other underwriters on underwriting proceduresWhat it TakesBachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Risk Management and/or Insurance preferred or equivalent work experience2 or more years of commercial insurance work is desirableCompleted insurance courses through The Institutes and/or CPCU beneficialPrevious underwriting experience is desirablePrior knowledge of underwriting systems and/or various software applicationsExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and human relations skills to provide exceptional customer serviceWhat You'll ReceiveAt Sentry, your total rewards go beyond competitive compensation.
