Lab Chemist

Clean Harbors is looking for a Lab Chemist is responsible for the non-routine analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. 1st Shift: 6 AM to 2 PM Pay: $25 per hourRESPONSIBILITIESPerforms non-routine analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problemsCalibrates and utilizes basic instrumentation, with the understanding of the underlying theoriesMaintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problemsCompletes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion (ex., calibration logs, run logs, etc.)Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelinesResponsible for supply management in their area of responsibilityResponsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical proceduresResponsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocolsWorks under the general direction of more senior members of the laboratoryTrains less senior members of the laboratory. Performs training and other aspects of Chemical Hygiene Plan as directed by Lab Manager or SupervisorReviews all applicable laboratory SOPs, annually, and scores a satisfactory score on SOP quizzesResponsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practicesQUALIFICATIONSBachelors Degree1 to 2 years experience Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testingExperience in a laboratory settingGood organizational skills, decisiveness and initiativeProblem solving skillsAbility to work in a team environmentClean Harbors is the leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services throughout North America.
