We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Burn Program Performance Improvement RN works in collaboration with burn program leadership to coordinate all aspects of the Burn Department’s Performance Improvement Program. Responsibilities include review of the burn patients’ records beginning with prehospital encounter through to discharge, and determination of compliance with patient care protocols, policies & procedures, and established standards of care throughout the continuum. Knowledge of chart abstraction and the burn registry, including reporting, data analysis, trend identification, and benchmarking of outcomes based upon the American College of Surgeons recommendations for quality and maintenance of burn center verification.This position also collaborates with the burn program leadership to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Burn, Southern Nevada Health District, and the State of Nevada, maintaining a state of verification readiness at all times. Communication, leadership, critical thinking, and clinical skills are all vital to the Burn Program Coordinator.In consultation with the Burn Services Director (BSD) and Burn Medical Director (BMD), this position coordinates the communication of registry and performance improvement trends to the burn panel, sub-specialists, liaisons, ancillary departments, and Administrative Leaders via the various meetings as outlined in the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) plan.What qualifications you will need:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of NevadaEducation: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. BSN Required.Master’s Degree in Nursing or related health field preferred. ABLS, BLS, ACLS.Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Provider and Instructor Status preferred.Emergency (CEN) or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) certification preferred.Experience: Minimum of 3 years recent experience in a Burn Center or Trauma Center equivalent.Minimum of 5 years nursing experience.Prior experience as a Burn/Trauma Program Coordinator preferred.Special Qualifications:· Physical Assessment/Lab Data interpretation· Nursing theory and practice· Strong computer and hospital informatics skills required· Familiarity with requirements for verification and operation of an American College of Surgeons verified Burn Center as contained in Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient: 2014.· Complies with hospital employee health, infection control and safety management programs.· Attend TOPIC course within 1 year of hire.
