Position Overview The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing constant support to all his Leads and all maintenance crews. The maintenance supervisor acts as a role model and teaches the department what is expected of them. Responsibilities Following all safety rules and procedures and environmental standards applicable to our process and facility - Teamwork effort and involvement to meet all goals - Works safely, follows and enforces all established plant policies and procedures - Possesses a strong mechanical aptitude and electrical aptitude applicable to a manufacturing environment and knowledge in building maintenance. - Shows a desire to keep improving in skills and knowledge to help the department grow. - Light to heavy physical effort required. - Must utilize the I-Maint program to its fullest to plan, prioritize, assign work to be done, maintain inventory, training records and p.m.’s. - Ensure that all work areas and job sites are clean, neat and safe. - Works with Production Superintendent to coordinate with machine repairs & perform the necessary work. - Knowledgeable in the rules and regulations of this industry. - Constantly strives to improve equipment safety and workplace in general. - Monitors parts inventory with the parts clerk to keep up to date. - Supervise and inspect assigned work. - Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used on the assigned tasks. - Evaluates maintenance employees quarterly. - Organizes training for the development of the department. - Performs any other duties assigned by Maintenance Manager. - Participate in the development of goals, budgets and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures. - Participate in maintaining the maintenance budget; monitor expenditure; prepare cost estimates; submit justifications for parts and equipment. - Perform and train in more technical and complex tasks. - Be alert to special conditions or problems that may arise. - Prioritize, calculate, organize and schedule all tasks utilizing the I-Maint program. Keep all the data up to date. - Evaluates the maintenance department: as a whole, per shift and individual level to better the function and progress. - Must keep machinery, building and facility up to code. - Organize training to keep the department up to date with technology. - Must be a role model and team leader Qualifications The qualifications for maintenance supervisors are the ability to meet the requirements of the job with or without accommodation. The ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team Education: Must possess a college degree, technical trade, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Supervisor Experience: Must have knowledge of the corrugated industry. Must be knowledgeable in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, plumbing, fabricating and building maintenance. Computer Skills: Computer Literate preferred Certificates & Licenses: Electrical and/or Electronic preferred Other Requirements: Able to communicate well with team members, and other plant personnel. Ability to meet and deal tactfully with vendors/contractors. Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills. Physical demands: Standing, sitting, walking, push/pull, ability to lift/carry 10lbs-50lbs, but no more than 100lbs. Must be able to work in Plant environment: Noisy, dirt, dust, hot and cold temperatures.
