Sentry Insurance is looking for an analytical and result driven individual with prior property and casualty underwriting experience to provide outstanding leadership to a team of underwriters in our Sentry Great Lakes Region. This team works with the middle-market and offers multi-line products to help our independent agency partners serve their customers. The ideal candidate should have prior management experience as well as an inquiring mind, an ability to evaluate, analyze and provide sound rationale for actions taken.What You’ll DoAs the Underwriting Manager for Commercial Lines, you’ll oversee and guide the implementation and successful execution of our business strategy and uphold continuous improvement through leadership focused on process, problem solving, performance, partnering, purpose and people. In addition, you’ll:Lead a team of underwritersRecommend/implement changes to improve productivity, growth, profitability, and qualityInterpret underwriting guidelines for larger or more complex filesHandle difficult underwriting inquiries through direct personal actionCoordinate and participate in underwriting training and development programsAttend sales team meetings and present and work with the broader Sentry team in pursuing new accounts, which may include other underwriting or sales teams within the organization. What it TakesBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required7-10 years of previous property and casualty underwriting experienceLeadership experience is preferredThorough knowledge of specific insurance concepts and terminology.Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skillsCompletion in or currently taking Insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU preferredAbility to meet travel requirementsWhat You'll ReceiveAt Sentry, your total rewards go beyond competitive compensation.
