Description Leidos tackles the most challenging national defense problems using advanced signal processing and data analytics. At our San Diego office, we have a dedicated and experienced team of scientists and engineers devoted to squeezing the last bit of information from every data set. We are currently seeking data scientists to join our leading-edge research and engineering group.In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members focused on Physics (Hydrodynamics, Acoustics, RF and EO/IR propagation, among other areas) and Machine Learning to design, implement, and deliver cutting edge machine Signal Processing solutions to complex problems of national importance.This position offers you the opportunity to grow and develop your skills in collaboration with our team. We hire people with curiosity and passion about science, technology, engineering, and math and who want to take that passion and turn it into reality.Primary ResponsibilitiesIdentify, prototype, and deploy appropriate (off-the-shelf, fine tuning, or custom) machine learning solutions utilizing state-of-the-art methods and in-depth data analysis.Implement advanced statistical concepts, algorithms and techniques to extract, consolidate, and analyze unstructured, classified “big data” sources to generate actionable insights.Collaborate with a team of other applied scientists, engineers, researchers & program managers to research and develop machine learning solutions to novel problems.Engage in continuous learning and development, staying current with the latest advances in AI/ML and data science to ensure fit-for-purpose and impactful approaches.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.Strong understanding of machine learning theory, concepts, and algorithmsProficient in modern data exploration techniques and toolsExperience developing and implementing machine learned solutionsFamiliarization with modern AI/ML algorithms and librariesFluency in C/C++, PythonStrong written and verbal communication skillsRequired on-site full-time work in San Diego, CACurrently holds an active US Government Top Secret security clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience performing research to develop data science solutionsExperience implementing and applying advanced physical and mathematical concepts in software applicationsExperience with active or passive sensor data and relevant signal processing techniquesExperience with Large Language Model (LLM) development and deploymentFamiliarization with Fortran or MatlabIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
